Campfire Poetry was conceived in order to give poets a new medium through which audiences can engage with their work, and to provide contemporary artists an opportunity to use the uniquely free form nature of poetry as a way to expand their own creative process and capabilities.
Using poetry as a jumping off point for the creation of a film, dance, painting, photography series, musical composition, or art installation, the work we support is ultimately tied to a core thematic through-line that renders its final form more emotionally accessible than merely “art for art’s sake.” At the same time, we encourage experimentation with form within this framework, and provide a nourishing and supportive space for artists to follow their own intuitions and inspiration.
